Startup ecosystem seeping into high school ranks
Startups are starting to be big business in Arkansas, and the kids are starting to notice. Chad Williamson of Noble Impact will lead a contingent of Little Rock high school students to Startup Weekend in Fayetteville Friday to compete along side their adult counterparts. Noble Impact, which partners with the Clinton School of Public Service, teaches high school students how to engage public service through entrepreneurship, and co-founder Williamson teaches a Noble Impact course at eStem High School, the public charter school in downtown Little Rock. Indeed, the entrepreneurial momentum that's enveloped the state over the last five years or so is seeping into the high school ranks.

St. Louis Cardinals to acquire Memphis Redbirds

The Memphis Redbirds Baseball Foundation ("Foundation") today announced that it has reached a strategic agreement that would rescue the financially troubled Memphis Redbirds and AutoZone Park. The Foundation has been operating the Redbirds and AutoZone Park under a forbearance agreement since it defaulted on its required bond payment in 2010.   The agreement calls for the St. Louis Cardinals ("Cardinals") to acquire the Memphis Redbirds and the City of Memphis to acquire AutoZone Park. The City would then lease the ballpark to the Redbirds through a long-term lease agreement. The agreement includes a significant capital investment in AutoZone Park to add features that will significantly improve the overall fan experience.

1 million Playstation 4's sold in first 24 hours
Over 1 million PlayStation 4's were sold in the first 24 hours after the game console went on sale early Friday, Sony said. The game system is Sony's first in seven years and includes new social features, streaming video apps and a touch pad on the controller. It is compatible with about 20 games, but the catalog is expected to expand by the end of the year. It's one of two hot game systems going head-to-head this holiday season. Microsoft's Xbox One goes on sale this coming Friday. Sony says it expects to sell 5 million PlayStation 4's by the end of March and analysts expect demand will outpace the supply through Christmas.

    Time Machines: Silver platters
It bears a passing resemblance to the vinyl record, but this futuristic concept was envisioned as more than just sound on a platter. The recording method involved electron beams and lasers; the base material was a coated, transparent plastic disc; and you'd get both an eyeful and an earful from the end product. Its intended goal in the market may have initially flubbed, but its core design has been patently embedded into a variety of successful formats ever since. Take a spin past the break to find out more about this invention.
