Little Rock, Ark. (KTHV) -- A group of Little Rock business owners rally together after a string of robberies caused one area business to leave town. Jim's Razorback Pizza on Stagecoach Road shut it's doors after two teens allegedly robbed the restaurant.

Officers with the Little Rock Police Department joined the Otter Creek Merchants Association at their monthly meeting Tuesday.

Chief Stuart Thomas, along with other officers, answered questions from members about recent crime and what the department is doing to help.

"From our standpoint, it gives us information about what their thinking, about how they see situations. [We can] make sure we provide them with everything we can to help make their business secure," says Thomas.

"It gives them a comfort level with us. I think it gives them explanation of what we're doing and how we're doing it. And it gives them some accurate data," Thomas adds.

Several business owners attended the meeting, behind closed doors.

Marc Fitts is the owner of Bill Fitts Auto in Otter Creek. He says he's happy to see the community come, and work, together to put an end to criminal activity.

"I work 6 days a week. To have somebody come in and take something of mine. It upsets me. That's one of the reasons i'm here. I'm gonna do what I can to help," says Fitts.

"People are getting tired of it and they are going to start fighting back," Fitts adds.

The spike in crime in the area led Fitts to install security cameras around his business. And earlier this year, when a robbery did occur, Fitts says the cameras helped them catch the suspect.

Thomas says since then, there have only been four reported robberies over the past two months in the Otter Creek area.
