LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- For the second winter in a row, the U.S. will be under the influence of a strong La Niña pattern. This could mean more record snowfall, flooding and drought to different parts of the country.

For Arkansas it generally means a warmer and drier season with periods of storminess. Last winter we expected more severe weather, but it really didn't start until late February. We did however experience one of our snowiest Februarys ever. Once again we should be alert for severe weather events during winter.

There will be cold spells, but on average, temps should be warmer than normal. Snow is possible, but more ice events are more likely considering the shallow layers of cold air during La Niña winters.
