    Explosion at gun powder plant sends one to hospital

    CLARKSVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - One person is being treated for severe burns after an explosion happened at a gun powder manufacturing plant.

    Chief Deputy Jerry Dorney with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office said his agency received a call at 8:20 Tuesday morning regarding an explosion at a black powder business located on County Road 3455.

    The owner of Black Powder, Inc., Jerry Dean, said one person was in the business at the time of the explosion; the worker sustained severe burns to his body and was flown via helicopter to a Little Rock hospital.

    The Johnson County Sheriff's Office, Rural Fire Department #1, Clarksville Fire Department and the Office of Emergency Services responded to the scene. The scene has been secured and investigators from the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Office in Little Rock are responding to the scene to assist in the investigation.
