CLEBURNE COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - A spokesperson with Arkansas Game and Fish confirms that a brother and sister are believed to have drowned on Greers Ferry Lake Saturday afternoon.

The two are missing after an attempted rescue in Cove Creek near Quitman.

Authorities say 33-year-old Narain Armbya and his sister, 26-year-old Chetana Armbya, were on a boat with friends and family.

Around 11:30 a.m. Chetana reportedly jumped or fell into the water and began to struggle. Her brother jumped in to help but was unable to get back to the boat. Neither person was wearing a floatation device. No bodies have been recovered.

Because the water is around 90 feet deep, searchers are using two boats from Pulaski County with sonar technology. Officials from Johnson County, Franklin County, Cove Creek and the Corps of Engineers are also assisting in the search.

THV 11 will have more information as it becomes available.
