LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -Residents in the East End area of Saline County said pet theft is an ongoing problem that needs to end.
"I could never see who it was. All I could see was a light colored truck," Mike Drake recalled. He said he saw a truck speeding down East End Road with Drake's Boston terrier inside. "I've been here all of my life, and I've never seen anything like this."
Mike Drake is one of several people living in the East End area of Saline County who has had their pet stolen in recent months.
"I don't know what else to do," added Drake. He has passed out several flyers and even posted signs offering a reward to the person who returns his dog.
"This is something that has been going on for a year and a half in this community," said Heather Stroud. Stroud is another Saline County pet owner who recently had one of her dogs taken.
"One day my girls were outside, and a white car came up, tried to take the dog at the present time, and my little one basically hollered and let them know that was our dog, and they were like 'Oh okay, we're sorry,'" she said.
"I was just like freaking out like 'Are they here to take my dog?'" added her daughter.
They did not take it that day, but Stroud thinks they may have returned the next day when no one was in sight.
With reports of scenarios like this happening all over the county, pet owners are a little hesitant about letting their other animals freely roam the yard.
"It's very frustrating," Stroud continued. "You feel like prisoners in your own neighborhood, in your own home."
Until the persons responsible for stealing these animals are found, Drake will continue to do what he can to see his dog again.
"All I want is my dog back," Drake concluded.
No questions asked. If someone would just bring my dog back."
