TEXARKANA, Ark. (AP) - Three Texarkana officials want Arkansas auditors to review financial incentives for a business park that were negotiated by a former city manager rehired last week.
Texarkana last week rehired Harold Boldt two months after awarding him a $162,000 severance package. The audit request doesn't mention Boldt by name, but the city manager negotiated financing for the Crossroads Business Park on the city's north side.
Boldt told the Texarkana Gazette he welcomed the review, which was requested by Prosecutor Carlton Jones, state Rep. Prissy Hickerson and state Sen. Jimmy Hickey.
The audit request says financial incentives came from the city's general fund, bond issues, Advertising and Promotion accounts and a water utility. It says the incentives were paid to the developer of the local convention center and a water park.
