BRYANT, Ark. (KTHV) - A former Razorback and NFL football player and another man were arrested Tuesday in Bryant for trying to illegally obtain prescription drugs.
According to a report from the Bryant Police Department, police received a call to Fred's Pharmacy on Highway 5 on Sept. 17 about 11:30 a.m. They were told that two people were trying to pass a forged prescription from a doctor for 180 Roxicodone (Oxycodone) pills. As officers pulled into the parking lot, two men reportedly jumped into their vehicle and left on Highway 5 toward I-30. A police officer was able to get the driver to pull over before Springhill Crossing off Highway 5.
The driver was identified as former football player Cedric Cobbs, 32, of Little Rock. The passenger was identified as Gary Hunt, 59, of Bryant. Both men were taken into custody Tuesday. Cobbs was charged with Conspiracy to Obtain Drugs by Fraud, Fleeing, and Driving on a Suspended License. His license was suspended due to nonpayment of child support.
Hunt was charged with Forgery in the 2nd degree and Felony Warrants, which he previously had out of Sherwood.
Both men were taken to the Saline County jail for processing.
