LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - A pregnant Mayflower woman was bitten by a venomous snake and forced to have an emergency C-section because of it.

As the snake's venom traveled from Angie Justice's foot up her leg, medical teams at St. Vincent's Hospital decided to go ahead bring little Corbin into the world a bit early last Monday.

"If I was panicked, I know he was going to be panicked and my heart was just rushing," said Justice.

The incident happened when Justice was letting her dogs out in the yard a week ago.

"I was barefoot and I was on the deck and I walked real close to this flower pot that we have and I didn't notice the snake was there until it bit my pinkie toe," said Justice.

Angie's husband Colby rushed to kill, what the two believe was a, copper head snake.

"Well it was sitting there and went up underneath the deck. I said well I got to get her to the hospital. I can't worry about that right now," said Colby Justice.

The two quickly left for the hospital. Doctors were a little shocked by the case and called out-of-state for recommendations. Finally doctors decided to bring Corbin into the world a touch early at 36 weeks.

"He came in at 12 o'clock on Monday and said 'How do you feel about delivering your baby in an hour?' And I was just like what? I knew that it might could happen because we told him we were okay with that, but then the actual fact of it happening didn't click in," said Justice.

After being on a ventilator for a few days, the little one is doing quite well.

"He's got a feeding tube and right now he's getting food through the tube and he's doing alright," said Justice.

Doctors gave Justice Anti-venom after the c-section and she is near a full recovery. Justice said she hopes to bring Corbin home sometime this week.
