LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - House Democrats and Republicans are calling for changes in Arkansas' ethics and campaign finance laws, including a ban on the use of campaign funds for ticketed political events.

House Democrats on Monday unveiled a series of proposals that its members are supporting for the next legislative session, and House Republicans later released proposals that they say they're discussing as well.

The Democrats' proposals include a ban on campaign money for so-called "ticketed events;" prohibiting multiple campaign contributions for corporations controlled by the same majority owner; allowing the Ethics Commission to proactively review campaign reports; and increased penalties for ethics violations.

Republicans said they're discussing a ticketed events ban, as well as reducing or eliminating the reporting threshold for expenditures; requiring electronic filing of campaign reports; and addressing surplus carry-over funds.
