WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (AP) - Two candidates for Arkansas governor along with other state officials plan to appear before the Legislative Black Caucus during its retreat and conference in West Memphis.
The caucus plans to hold its two-day retreat and conference at Mid-South South Community College starting Wednesday. The conference includes sessions on economic development, health care, the private option, the future of education and the Common Core standards.
The conference will include a conversation with Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Mike Ross and Republican candidate Asa Hutchinson. Attendees will also hear from representatives from the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, the state Education Department, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, the Arkansas Association of Counties and the state Health Department.
