The Big Bang Theory | CBS, 8 ET/PT

A host of TV favorites return tonight, led by one of last season's most popular and best series, The Big Bang Theory. To celebrate the show's seventh-season premiere (and to give an even bigger boost to its debuting The Crazy Ones), CBS is giving Bang a two-episode run, starting with an outing that finds Penny and Sheldon (this year's Emmy winner, Jim Parsons) bonding over Leonard's absence at sea. In the second, Leonard's ship comes in, and he immediately hurts Sheldon's feelings. And yes, as the show has very effectively established, Sheldon does have feelings, as strange as he and they may sometimes be.

    Glee | Fox, 9 ET/PT

Glee returns with a much-publicized salute to The Beatles catalog that, over the next two weeks, will find the cast singing 14 Beatles hits. Fans of the show and of the late Cory Monteith should keep in mind that these first two episodes were in the works before he died and will not deal with the loss of Monteith or his character, Finn Hudson. That episode will come Oct. 10.

    Grey's Anatomy | ABC, 9 ET/PT

Death stalks one of the characters in Grey's Anatomy tonight, and it might not be the one you'd assume from May's finale, as this long-running hit returns for its 10th season. As is typical with this still-entertaining medical drama, the two-hour special will be crisis-packed, as last season's storm provokes this season's mudslide - and last season's act of infidelity by Arizona provokes tonight's response from Callie.
