LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- THV 11 Film Critic Jonathan Nettles says that Gravity delivers a complete movie experience.

Gravity stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney as NASA Scientist Dr. Ryan Stone who along with Mission Commander Colonel Matt Kowalski is adrift in space after an accident destroys their space shuttle.

I'll keep this one easy. Gravity is spectacular, intense, stunning, gripping, emotional, tense, and many other things. It is the boldest endeavor by a filmmaker I've seen in a long time. This movie could have easily failed in production by turning the way of action thriller but it stays true to itself and builds off high emotions. There are several movies that are called "edge of your seat thrillers" but this is the only movie where I have restrained myself from literally sitting on the edge of my seat or even having to stand up because it was so intense. Director Alfonso Cuaron has made a space movie that has more emotional depth than anything before it.

From a technical standpoint, it's as close to experiencing the beauty, fear, and danger of space that most of us will ever get but what's truly amazing is the scope of the film. Cuaron is known for long tracking camera shots with no edit points, and Gravity is no exception to his film. In large effect movies, directors often fall into the pit of editing too much and the audience gets lost in the perspective of where things should and who should be where but Cuaron is able to use these long shots and still keep everything in its' place. Objects are where you think they are, people are where they think they should be, and the action is easy to understand within that perspective.

Last week, I said that Rush was the best movie I'd seen in a while. Gravity is now the best movie I've seen a while. Go see this movie.
