Airbus calls for wider seats on long flights
Airbus is calling on the airline industry to require wider seats on long-haul flights, citing a new study that found that just an extra inch of room vastly improves in-flight comfort and sleep quality. The study from The London Sleep Centre found that seats, with a width of 18 inches, led to a 53% improvement in passenger sleep quality compared to the 17-inch standard offered by many airlines. Airbus, part of the pan-European aerospace conglomerate EADS (EADSF), is hoping that all airlines will adopt the 18-inch standard for long-haul flights.

Livescribe 3 smartpen digitizes notes straight to your iPad

Livescribe broke new ground last year with the Sky WiFi pen that could transfer handwritten and audio notes straight to the cloud (well, to your Evernote account anyway), so that they'd be accessible anywhere there's an internet connection. The company's latest smartpen is positioned as a companion specifically designed to work in concert with a compatible mobile device, which in this case only applies to those that run iOS. Once paired via Bluetooth LE, notes written in a Livescribe notebook will automatically appear on the accompanying Livescribe+ app.

As witches, vampires, zombies and other costumed revelers head out to stores this weekend to complete their Halloween attire, federal law enforcement agencies want to warn them about the dangers of colored contact lenses. Some decorative lenses, also referred to as fashion lenses, have caused serious injuries and infections to the eye. Costume contact lens horror stories include tales of corneal scratches and ulcers, conjunctivitis and even blindness, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the agency in charge of regulating contact lenses.
