CARAWAY, Ark. (KTHV) - The storm that passed through Arkansas Thursday spurned a tornado that caused substantial damage to downtown Caraway in Craighead County.

The Memphis National Weather Service confirms Friday afternoon that an EF-1 tornado touched down. An EF-1 tornado has wind speeds between 86-110 mph.

Tommy Jackson with the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management said a curfew was put into place at 10:15 p.m. Thursday night to perform a door-to-door check; no one was unaccounted for and there were no injuries or deaths.

There are trees and power lines down and some houses damaged. Friday morning, emergency officials will resume damage checks.

The American Red Cross set up an emergency shelter for those affected by last night's storms at the Caraway Senior Center at 401 North New York.

According to Entergy's website, there were 536 people in Craighead County without power.

According to the 2010 census, Caraway has 1,279 residents.
