LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The Little Rock Fire Department is currently at the scene of a fire at an apartment complex.

According to Capt. Randy Hickmon, the two-alarm fire broke out at the Out in the Wood Complex behind Baptist Hospital on Kanis Road Thursday morning. They said wind is causing problems with their efforts to extinguish the flames.

Hickmon said 15 trucks are on scene and firefighters will be working the fire for "quite a while."

The Out in the Woods Facebook page indicates that the complex rests on 9201 Kanis Road and consists of 18 buildings; it has recently undergone some major renovations.

Hickmon said one building, consisting of 16 units, is destroyed and considered a "total loss." He said while that is one of the buildings undergoing renovations, residents were living in the units. THV11's Macy Jenkins is on scene, saying at least 30 residents are displaced.

Hickmon said another building is partially damaged, with at least one unit being destroyed.

This is the second fire at the complex within a year. In June 2013, a fire started at Out In The Woods, displacing 27 residents. Two firefighters suffered heat-related injuries while fighting those flames.

We currently have no reports on injuries from the fire. THV11 will continue updating this story with more information as it becomes available.
