RUSSELVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - The search continues for a man who was reportedly last seen Sunday, Jan. 12 jumping into the Arkansas River.
Pope County deputies said the incident took place after Arkansas State Police attempted to pull over a vehicle for a traffic stop. A witness told authorities the man inside, later identified as Michael Caldwell, jumped into the river. Caldwell is described as standing 6'4" and having two tattoos, one on his shoulder and one on his chest.
According to a press release from the Pope County Sheriff's Office, Arkansas Game and Fish workers are searching the water for Caldwell on Thursday and Friday. A group will also be searching the water Saturday, using a side scan and underwater robot; a cadaver dog from out-of-state may also be used to assist in the search.
Sheriff Aaron DuVall asks anyone with information about Caldwell's whereabouts to contact the Pope County Sheriff's Office at (479) 968-2558 or Pope County Dispatch at (479) 968-0911.
