FORT SMITH, Ark. (KTHV) - An Arkansas woman who lost her child while battling the flu is still unconscious.

Leslie Creekmore came down with the flu two weeks ago.

It started out as a bad cold, and just three days later, she was unconscious.

She was flown from her hometown in Fort Smith to a hospital in Missouri. At 20 weeks pregnant, Creekmore's body spontaneously delivered her unborn child. The little girl they planned to call Jera died.

Creekmore's husband Chris is trying to stay positive. "She is more likely to survive then to not, but that's as optimistic as any one is at this point, " he said.

Creekmore is still in the intensive care unit and has had to undergo surgery to repair a collapsed lung.

Her husband urges everyone to get a flu shot.
