    Little Rock News:

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The Little Rock Police Department's 78th recruit school graduated on Friday.

The newly certified officers are now part of the state's largest accredited police department. Twenty-six men and 7 women completed the 24-week-long academy.

Two already certified officers also joined the graduation ceremony after completing a 6 week training course.

In addition to today's 35 sworn in officers, the city has hired 90 new officers since 2012.

"The families have been with them every step of the way, so it's nice to see they've finally had a chance to celebrate the success they've had so far. But tomorrow, they start work," said Stuart Thomas, Little Rock Police Chief.

Awards for best academics, best firearms score, best physical fitness score and best overall average were also presented to the grads.
