Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Dan Ellis had 26 saves for his first shutout
of the season as the Dallas Stars posted a 2-0 win over the Anaheim Ducks on
Trevor Daley and Jamie Benn scored for the Stars, who had lost their previous
Jonas Hiller gave up just one goal on 26 shots in the loss for the Ducks, who
were coming off a 5-3 win over Philadelphia on Thursday.
The Stars took a 1-0 lead 5:03 into the second period. Cody Eakin caught up
to the puck in the neutral zone and fought past a defender down the right
wing. Driving to the net, his initial shot was stopped, but Daley was there to
bang in the rebound for his fourth of the year.
Ellis made 14 saves through the first two periods before stopping all 12 shots
in the final frame to keep the Ducks off the board.
Benn's empty-netter with 29 seconds to play, his 22nd goal of the season,
sealed the outcome.
Ellis has 14 shutouts in his career ... Anaheim hosts Columbus on Monday ...
Dallas plays at Phoenix on Tuesday ... Dallas has won two of three from
Anaheim this season.
