FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Enrollment at the University of Arkansas has topped 25,000 students at the Fayetteville campus.
The school announced Friday that preliminary enrollment figures show 25,325 undergraduate and graduate students are taking classes this fall.
Campus leaders had set a goal of reaching 25,000 students by 2021.
UA enrollment has increased by 32 percent since 2008, representing an additional 6,000 students.
Provost Sharon Gaber says the university has $450 million in new construction since 2011 to update the campus and that faculty members are being added to keep pace with the growth in enrollment. Since 2010, the school has added 160 faculty members and more are to come on board in the coming fiscal year.
