JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Enrollment at Arkansas State University's campus in Jonesboro has fallen slightly from a year ago.
The school announced Wednesday that 13,538 students enrolled for the fall semester. That's 358 fewer students than in the fall of 2012.
The Jonesboro Sun reports that administrators attribute the decline, in part, to higher admission standards.
The school says the enrollment numbers are still unofficial and that it is working on a more detailed look at the composition of the student body.
ASU wouldn't say how many freshmen enrolled or whether there were more or less than a year ago.
Vice Chancellor Rick Stripling says the enrollment total indicates ASU has a stable student population.
