SEARCY (Harding Univ.) Two Harding baseball players earned All-Star honors in their respective summer wood-bat leagues. Matt Calhoun, who is playing in Slippery Rock, Pa., was named the starting first baseman in the Prospect League All-Star Game, and Davis Richardson, playing in Douglasville, Ga., earned All-Star honors in the Sunbelt League.
Calhoun, a native of Searcy, Ark., who will be entering his senior season, ranks eighth in the Prospect League with a .327 batting average. He has scored 19 runs and has 17 RBI in 29 games. Calhoun is also tied for second in the league with four home runs.
Richardson, a native of Kennesaw, Ga., will be a sophomore catcher for the Bisons in the 2014 season. This summer, he is hitting .294 (10-for-34) with four runs, four doubles, and six RBI in 13 Sunbelt League games.
Calhoun was Harding's starting first baseman as a junior, hitting .276 with a team-leading four home runs and 31 RBI. Richardson played in 10 games as a reserve catcher and pinch hitter.
