CONWAY, Ark. (UCA) - The Southland Conference named its Players of the Week on Monday morning, and after going 3-0 and failing to drop a set in three matches last week, the Central Arkansas Sugar Bears were well represented. Senior Jessica Nagy was named the SLC Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
Nagy had a big week for the Sugar Bears, turning in the match-high in kills twice and averaging 3.89 kills per set. The Carleton, Michigan native picked up 11 kills on a .400 hitting percentage. Against Louisiana Tech on Friday night, Nagy again turned in a match-high in kills, this time tallying 15 on a .333 hitting percentage. In Central Arkansas' final match of the week, Nagy turned in nine kills on a .444 hitting percentage.
Nagy and the Sugar Bears (10-3, 2-0 SLC) hit the road this week for a pair of Southland Conference matches. The Sugar Bears will open the week in Hammond, Louisiana on Thursday night, facing off against Southeastern Louisiana at 7:00 pm. They will then head to New Orleans, Louisiana to face new SLC member New Orleans at 2:00 on Saturday afternoon.
