RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (SAU) - Southern Arkansas junior guard Allie Wade has been named as the Great American Conference women's basketball player of the week as it was announced by the league office on Monday. The honor marks the first time that a SAU women's basketball player has been named GAC Player of the Week.
Wade, a native of Siloam Springs, Ark., earns the weekly honor after she served as the offensive catalyst for the Lady Muleriders in their 75-73 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville in their lone action last week.
In that game, Wade scored a season-high 23 points on 5-of-9 shooting. Most of her damage came from beyond the arc as she knocked down four trifectas. All four of those three-pointers came in a 21-6 early second-half SAU run that gave the Lady Muleriders a sizable lead 20-point lead. During that SAU run, Wade was responsible for 14 of the team's 21 points.
Wade and the Lady Muleriders will be back in action on Thursday, January 2 as they play host to Southeastern Oklahoma. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
