SHERWOOD, Ark. (UAM) - The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's and women's golf teams both finished in fifth place at the Deltic Timber/Commercial Bank Fall Classic played at The Greens at North Hills in the final tournament of fall portion of the 2013-14 schedule.
The women were led by freshman Lauren Johnson, who improved four spots from the first round to finish in eighth place out of 34 participants with scores of 89 and 85. Sammy Rodriguez finished 14th with a two-round total of 180, Linda Williams finished 27th at 203 and Rachel Bedenbaugh finished 29th at 222. Pamela Quiatchon played the second round only and turned in an 84.
Rogers State won both the women's and men's team titles. The RSU women had a two-round team total of 682, 15 strokes ahead of second place finisher William Carey University. The RSU men won by just two strokes with a two-round total of 615 ahead of Ouachita Baptist at 617, Missouri Southern at 619 and SouthernArkansas at 620. UAM finished at 635.
Sophomore Billie Trawick led the UAM men in a tie for 12th place with scores of 76 and 80. Theodor Karlsson finished one stroke behind at 157 with scores of 78 and 79 for a tie for 15th place. Ari Magnusson tied for 18th at 160, HunterSmith tied for 22nd at 162 and Bryan Witmer tied for 36th at 170.
William Carey's Sarah Hicks won the individual title on the women's side with scores of 82 and 83. Ouachita Baptist's Drew Greenwood won men's title with scores of 73 and 70.
