FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Univ. of Ark.) - The University of Arkansas volleyball team is ranked No. 16 in the season's first release of the NCAA RPI. Through their first 16 games of the 2013 campaign, the Razorbacks have tallied an 11-5 overall record and a 4-1 mark in Southeastern Conference play. Arkansas is one of six SEC teams ranked among the nation's top 30 in the RPI.
Arkansas capped its week with a four-set win Sunday afternoon over Auburn at Barnhill Arena. The Razorbacks swept their weekend matches with wins over Auburn and South Carolina. The team's five-set victory Friday night at South Carolina represented the 400th win in program history. Individually, senior libero Emily Helm was recognized Monday for her outstanding play as the SEC Defensive Player of the Week.
In this week's release of the NCAA statistical leaders, the Razorbacks continue to be ranked among the top-50 teams nationally with 2.59 blocks per set which is good for 42nd place. Offensively, junior Meredith Hays is ranked 28th among the nation's players with 4.17 kills per set.
The Razorbacks continue their season Friday with a home match against Alabama. First serve will be at 7 p.m. (CT) at Barnhill Arena. Arkansas will then travel to Knoxville, Tenn., to face the Lady Vols Sunday at Thompson-Boling Arena in a match that will be televised by SportSouth and Fox Sports.
