LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - After you enjoy all the gifts from Santa on Christmas morning, be careful about how you dispose of wrappers, boxes and shopping bags.
Enjoy spending time with family, unwrapping gifts, and eating some home-cooked food, but be careful with your new belongings. The Pulaski County Sheriff's Department recommends being discrete with your gifts and being aware of how criminals think.
"Well after the holidays people have a lot of new presents and things. They'll have boxes of TVs, just various items," said Lt. Cody Burk. "Try not to leave them out all week. Put them out close to when the trash is coming so people driving down the street won't know exactly what you've got for Christmas, [or] what new things you have in the house."
Lt. Burk also suggests breaking down boxes as much as possible and putting them in a garbage bag.
