LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- The national debt has now topped $16 trillion. That means lawmakers will have to pass a law early next year to raise the government's borrowing cap from the current ceiling of $16.39 trillion.
If you remember, raising the debt ceiling was one of the biggest fights in Congress last year and resulted in the nation's credit rating suffering.
