LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Craig O'Neill is on a mission to find out how folks in Central Arkansas can help make a difference on Make a Difference Day 2012.
And it didn't take him very long to figure out how to do just that.
He stopped in at Baseline Elementary School, where Media Specialist Karen Sebourn had a 'To Do' list of 22 items for the school. At the top of that list is adding a handicap ramp at the north wing of the school.
"When we have a fire drill, especially if the doors slam shut, they can't get to the handicap ramp," Sebourn said.
Baseline employees said the outdoor court needs attention and showed Craig how landscaping could improve the outdoor classroom. The fence on the playground needs mending or, better yet, they could use a 'privacy fence' between the school and some nearby apartments.
Other "To Do's" include painting the school's bear mascot on the building and sprucing up the entrance area. To view the 'to Do' list for Baseline Elementary School, click here.
"(Any help at all) would be wonderful. So many of the children who live in the area don't have the best environment," Sebourn said. "It would just be a wonderful, wonderful gift."
