Big day for high schools seniors in Arkansas

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Wednesday is the beginning of early signing period for spring sports and several high school seniors have made their decisions.

    Lawson Vassar, a senior at Pulaski Academy, has played football and baseball during his time at PA. But Wednesday he signed to play baseball for the Diamond Hogs next year. Vassar will be a pitcher at Arkansas.

    Vassar's roommate will be North Little Rock senior Alex Gosser. Gosser also signed to be a Diamond Hog next fall. He plays catcher currently for the Charging Wildcats and will assume the same position in Fayetteville.

    Four seniors signed letters of intent at Central Arkansas Christian Wednesday. Joey Pinney and Travis Byrnes will play baseball for the UCA Bears next year. Pinney turned down offers from Alabama and Arkansas to stay closer to home.

    Mustang Senior Catie Burleson signed to play softball at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Landon Hearnes will play golf at Arkansas State.

    Two seniors from Parkview signed letters of intent for basketball. Imari "IJ" Ready will play for the Mississippi State Bulldogs next fall. Rohsunda Johnson is the newest "Cowgirl" as she heads to Oklahoma State next year.
