Little Rock, Ark. (AAHSO) -- The Arkansas Association of High School Officials (AAHSO) announced today the addition of the 6A/7A South for the 2013-2014 football season. The conference includes: Benton High School, Bryant High School, Fair High School, El Dorado High School, Lake Hamilton High School, Pine Bluff High School, Sheridan High School, and Texarkana High School. All senior high varsity conference games will be assigned by the association.

"We were invited to share information about our association with the conference earlier this month and we were able to put a deal together shortly thereafter," said AAHSO Executive Director Todd Allen. "Greg Downum shared our vision with the coaches and they were excited about the direction of the program. Greg is a super official and I think he articulated our ambitions very well," added Allen.

These schools join 11 other Arkansas High Schools that make-up the AAHSO. These schools include:

Charter members: Quitman High School, Rosebud High School, Riverview High School

2-AAAA conference members: Batesville Southside High School, Clinton High School, Dollarway High School, Heber Springs High School (also a Charter member), Lonoke High School, Marianna High School, Newport High School, and Stuttgart High School.

"This is a good progression for the association," said AAHSO President and NFL Referee Walt Coleman. "This will give us exposure to even more officials that we will be able to help. That's the only reason we're here, to help Arkansas high school football officials get better," added Coleman.

The AAHSO offers its members training through video instruction, evaluations, play bulletins, rules study and camps. The AAHSO has over 250 member officials and has assigned more than 600 football games since the association's inception in 2010.
