LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Of all the clubs you'll find in any school, perhaps the most unusual is the Little Gentleman Club at Carver Magnet in Little Rock.

Founded by third grade teacher Phillip Carlock, the club is devoted to helping 3rd, 4th and 5th graders establish good behavioral habits that will stay with them into manhood.

Carlock has been very detailed in his approach, including training on being better at conversation. For example, instead of talking sports, it's better to start with, "How was your day?"

To prepare for Thanksgiving, the club has been studying proper table settings and etiquette at the table. As a test of how much they'd learned, several of the club members were invited to show Craig O'Neill how to set the table.

The laboratory was the most luxurious restaurant in Central Arkansas-Ashley's in the Capital Hotel.

Nicholas, Josiah, Hunter, Jumaiya, Spencer, Ezekial, and Nios, gathered round Craig and showed him proper bread plate placement, where the silverware was positioned, how the folded napkin pointed outward, and even how the plate should be the width of a knuckle between the edge of the table and the edge of the plate.

Then, they insisted that the first question around the dinner table should be: "So, how was your day?"

It was a very enthusiastic and educational display of skills learned by the Little Gentleman Club. These are skills that will last a lifetime.

Thanks to the Ashley's staff, after the exhibition, the kids were toured through the kitchen and given hot chocolate.
