LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A former executive director of the state Democratic Party has been hired to help run the newly majority-Republican Arkansas House.
Incoming House Speaker Davy Carter on Monday announced that he had hired Gabe Holmstrom as the chamber's chief of staff. Holmstrom replaces current chief Bill Stovall, who will become House chief operations officer.
Carter is a Republican from Cabot who was elected speaker-designate last month after Republicans won control of the House. Holmstrom previously worked as a public affairs specialist for Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods.
Carter also announced he hired former Rep. Roy Ragland as House Director.
A spokeswoman for the House said salaries for Holmstrom and Ragland had not been set. Stovall's salary in his new position will remain at $133,000.
