CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) - Two big names in Arkansas have come together to produce one of the most memorable events Conway has ever seen.
Academy Award winning actress Mary Steenburgen, and American Idol Winner, Conway's own Kris Allen, have gotten behind the Arkansas Songwriting Festival, in Conway on Friday, Dec. 7.
Categories run the gambit, from folk to rap, and several finalists will compete for the title of songwriter of the year.
Mary Steenburgen is a judge, answering the request to appear, because of her recent career move-she has become a songwriter.
It should be a fun and entertaining night, with tickets just $10 at the door. All proceeds go to the Blackbird Academy. The Academy is dedicated to giving kids and adults training, experience, and encouragement in several categories-from filmmaking to music writing, to dance and theater, and more.
Performances begin at 7:30 at the Brick Room in Ford Theater. Rumors are there will be a surprise guest. Go see for yourself.
