LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Too often we report the negative news, but great things are happening in your community each day.

Here's a look at a a story that is on The Brighter Side...

Grab your favorite hat and be a hero to the kids at Camp Aldersgate!

Bryant High School Senior Riley Hall started 'Hat Day' as a fundraiser. Riley volunteered for 4 weeks of summer camp totaling 508 hours since June.

"I felt like I owed them so much. I mean I really don't owe them anything, but I felt like I owed them for what they gave me over the summer."

Through this amazing student's efforts and enthusiasm, the city of Bryant is hosting the event.

Participants can pay one dollar for the privilege to wear a hat to work or school today, December 7.

So far, seven departments and eight schools from Bryant are joining in on the fun.

All proceeds go to Camp Aldersgate, which provides an escape for kids with special needs.

"Some people have no idea how much a dollar can help," explains Riley. There are so many things that can be done at camp. Camp is already a great place. It's going to help so much with what they do, even if it is not that much money. It's better than nothing."

And if you would like to donate money to help Camp Aldersgate, you can call them at 501-225-1444 or visit campaldersgate.net
