    Red Wolves plan to announce Bryan Harsin as head football coach

    JONESBORO, Ark. (KTHV) -- Sources close to Arkansas State University confirm that the Red Wolves plan to announce Bryan Harsin as head football coach on Wednesday, Dec. 12.

    Writers with the new online sports blog Sporting Life Arkansas confirm that the University of Texas offensive coordinator plans to be named as the next head coach for ASU.

    Harsin will replace Gus Malzahn who departed after just one season with the Red Wolves. Malzahn announced his departure exactly one week ago on Tuesday, December 4.

    Harsin reportedly made $675,000 while coaching the Longhorns for the past two years. Prior to his job with UT, Harsin worked at Boise State as both offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

    CBS Sports writer Bruce Feldman also confirmed reports of the hire Tuesday evening on Twitter.

    ASU is will hold a press conference at 2 p.m. today (December 12) to officially announce the hire.

    Harsin is also a former Broyles Award finalist. He was voted as a finalist in the Class of 2009. Harsin was the Offensive Coordinator at Boise State at the time.
