BEEBE, Ark. (KTHV) - Wreaths Across America is all about presenting Christmas wreaths to family members who lost a loved one overseas, and on Friday, elementary students along with high school students and veterans came out to support Beebe families who are missing someone that fought for our freedom.

Swindle family did not expect to be laying a wreath in Sergeant Jason Swindle's honor Friday. His brother, widow, and in-laws paid respects to the fallen Arkansas hero. Sgt. Swindle lost his life just three months ago in a small arms fire while serving in Afghanistan.

Two other families also received wreaths. As they took the stage, a song written by the Swindle family played.

"I still can't listen to it without tearing up," said Sam Swindle.

The Swindle family said events like Wreaths Across America help them find peace.

"The town has been amazing. The state has shown so much support. It's an honor to be an Arkansan. It brought back some hope in our lives," said Swindle. "It brought back some hope in our life."

Blake Schowe with Walmart, a sponsor of the effort, said hosting these events in schools is a great way to show kids how important it is to honor our servicemen.
