LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The Compassion Center in Little Rock is gearing up to serve Christmas dinner to needy Arkansans.
They're expecting around 1,000 people to show up Tuesday for meals, and this week alone, they've handed out about 500 food boxes with each box containing enough food for 4 people for five days.
Rosemary Holloway is with the Compassion Center said anyone in need is more than welcome to join them for a meal.
"We're like one big family here. Everyone accepts them. We don't want anyone to be alone on Christmas, and after the meal, they're going to be passing out gifts to everyone that comes," Holloway told THV 11.
Holloway also said they're fully staffed with volunteers for Christmas, but they need cold weather items such as hats, gloves, coats and socks.
The center is watching out for the possibility of snow. Their building can hold up to 250 people if it needs to stay open overnight.
Lunch will be served at noon, and dinner will be served at 4:30.
