LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas' largest utility says it is still on target to complete repairs to its damaged electric grid sometime around New Year's Day.

Entergy Arkansas opened its doors to customers on Saturday, fielding comments, complaints and questions about its response to a Christmas Day blizzard. Some people discovered while talking to company representatives that their power had just come back on.

Counting Entergy and locally owned utilities, Arkansas had more than 260,000 homes and businesses without power in the past week. As of Saturday, the number was down to around 70,000.

Entergy spokeswoman Julie Munsell said Saturday the utility had enough repair crews on stand-by before the storm, but that the ice and snow were worse than expected and workers couldn't immediately reach the hardest-hit areas.
