HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) -- The Hot Springs Police Department is investigating a stabbing that occurred Saturday just before 11 a.m.
Police responded to 112 Pansy Street after a report of stabbing. Once on the scene, they found Gary Burns lying on a couch suffering from a stab wound. The Garland County Coroner pronounced him dead on the scene.
Authorites said they found the suspect, Crystal Gayle Womble hiding in a wooded area near the home; Womble, 34, was arrested and charged with manslaughter.
The arrest report states she told deputies that she and Burns were fighting all morning and that she decided to leave. She said Burns grabbed her and pushed her against the kitchen counter. She said that's when she grabbed the knife and "lashed at him" in an attempt to get away.
Womble had bruises to her upper body, where she says Burns physically assaulted her. Two witnesses say Burns often physically abused Womble.
