REDFIELD, Ark. (KTHV) - The Assistant Superintendent of White Hall School District has announced that Redfield Middle School will be closing.
Dorothy Welch told THV 11 News that Redfield Middle School will close at the end of the school year, and the student body will be absorbed by the White Hall School District.
White Hall Superintendent Dr. Larry Smith said they decided to close the school because of facility and financial considerations. He said part of their financial issues stem from declining enrollment and heath care reform. The school is now paying for the healthcare of about 65 percent of their employees, and the number could climb to 85 percent.
Parents and students have been rallying to save the school and have even turned in a petition with more than 200 signatures from supporters of the school.
