LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Five states, Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York and Tennessee have announced they will add at least 300-hours to the academic calendar in some schools beginning this year.
Those in favor argue too much knowledge is lost during the summer months. Those against the longer school year say they want their kids to have time to be kids.
