HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) -- Forget Ground Hogs Day. A cooler, more hip version is alive and well in Heber Springs called Hedge Hog Day. Heard of it?
Punxsutawney Phil is a punk.
Friday, Dana Wells' digital communications class made the hedgehog a star as a part of a class project.
One day before Groundhog Day, they borrowed Heber and released him on the football field. Heber saw his shadow, and that means six more weeks of water skiing on Greers Ferry Lake.
It was a made for TV event, and thus a new legend has been born...maybe.
By the way, no hedgehogs were injured in the making of the video attached to this story.
Little known fact: Centuries ago in Germany it was the hedgehog that predicted the weather and not the groundhog.
