RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - An animal clinic in Russellville caught fire Monday afternoon.
According to Russellville Fire Chief John Cochran, the fire started just after 1:30 p.m. at the Southland Animal Clinic on S. Main Street. Chief Cochran said that when the department arrived to the fire that took around an hour to contain, there was a considerable amount of smoke and fire coming from the rear of the structure.
Chief Cochran said that as of 4:30 p.m., crews were still mopping the scene.
One fireman was temporarily trapped inside the burning structure, according to the chief. Though he sustained some burns, he was not seriously hurt and has since been released from the hospital where he was treated. His name has not been released.
On Southwind Animal Hospital's Facebook page, an administrator responded to a concerned user's comment around 2:30 p.m. Monday afternoon by saying that all of the animals are fine, but they do not know how much damage was done.
