LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas' Senate delegation split along party lines in the vote to confirm former Sen. Chuck Hagel as defense secretary.

Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor voted for Hagel's confirmation Tuesday and Republican Sen. John Boozman voted against.

Pryor says he sided with major veterans organizations, which supported President Barack Obama's choice of Hagel, who is a Republican.

Boozman says he was troubled by Hagel's stance on Israel and on how Hagel wants to modernize the military.

The Senate confirmed Hagel on a 58-41 vote.
