Bryant robbery suspects charged in string of Benton armed robberies

    BRYANT, Ark. (KTHV) - Three men arrested Thursday night for a robbery in Bryant are also charged with a string of armed robberies in Benton. According to a release from the Benton Police Dept., after the suspects were arrested, Benton officers questioned them about a recent rash of robberies in their city.

    Police said the three men - Justin Pettis, 23; Mike Waller, 35; and Tony Smith, 28 - were responsible for four armed robberies in Benton. One of the robberies was a recent incident at Taco Bueno; the others involved convenience store robberies in late 2012 at a Shell Station and Phillips 66.

    Waller is charged with three counts of Aggravated Robbery, two counts of Theft (Felony), and seven counts of Kidnapping. Pettis is charged with two counts of Aggravated Robbery, Theft of Property (Felony), and seven counts of Kidnapping. Smith is charged with four counts of Aggravated Robbery, three counts of Theft of Property (Felony), seven counts of Kidnapping, and one count of Theft (Misdemeanor).

    All three suspects have addresses in Little Rock; Smith is a parolee out of the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections.

    Benton police said this is an on-going investigation and further charges could be forthcoming in the case.
