LITTLE ROCK (KTHV) -Two days after a deadly shooting at Park Plaza Mall, there's a peace vigil in honor of the victim, Christian Hayes.
Saturday's program was part of a monthly "push for peace" in Little Rock. The Stop the Violence group led the way, adding a fourth cross to a mock cemetery near Daisy Bates and Martin Luther King Drive. The new cross represents this year's fourth homicide victim in Little Rock. Christian Hayes died Thursday night after a shooting at the Sabarro restaurant at Park Plaza Mall.
At Saturday's vigil we talked with Dorotha Webb McIntosh. She says, while their numbers were small, she hopes the images here wake up the community.
"That's the message that we are trying to get across that it's wrong, we want it to stop, we want the community to take hold of and take a part in to help us stop the violence," McIntosh said.
McIntosh adds that her group is also a safe source to bring criminal information to; they pass it along to police.
The group also provides help to people out there who may be getting into the wrong crowd and want to get their life back on track. They have volunteer ministers, nurses and teachers. You can call 501-563-5400 for more information.
As for the mall shooting, police have arrested two people who are facing murder charges. We've learned one of the suspects is a current Sbarro employee and the other one is a former worker.
We've also learned that the fatal victim, Hayes, was current worker at Sbarro. The second victim is in critical condition at an area hospital.
