LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - A new study shows that Facebook may be giving older adults a mental boost.

According to myhealthnewsdaily.com, the study sampled 42 adults between the ages of 68 and 91 who were unfamiliar with the platform. They were divided into three groups: One trained to use Facebook, another to use an online diary site, and the third group ventured into both without any training whatsoever.

After eight weeks, the Facebook group performed 25 percent better than they did at the study's start on a task that measured their ability to focus while a stream of new information is presented. This is apparently a mental process known as "updating."
