LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- When a foster child gets older, the hope of finding a forever family is bleak, but the 11-year old THV 11 met this week refuses to give up.

THV's Dawn Scott met up with 11-year old Emily, a girl wise beyond her years, at Little Rock's Animal Village to greet a pack of precious German Shepherd puppies which were recently rescued and up for adoption.

They bonded in a matter of minutes.

"They're playful," said Emily. "If they're having fun, I'm having fun. It makes me wanna take all of 'em home."

Emily's dream is to one day be a veterinarian and take care of the animals no one wants, and she knows all too well how that feels.

"Kinda lonely," she described. "Nobody sees you, but they hear you. I get tired of moving from one home to another home non-stop."

She loved the animals, read to them, and played with them. It's what kept her from dwelling on the fact that after so many years no one has taken her in.

"I got taken away since I was 3," Emily recalled. "And I'm 11, so about 8 years."

The puppies were a much needed distraction for her in such an overwhelming life.

"I go outside and play with my own dogs," she explained. "I go out and ride my bike, color a picture of good memories or do something fun."

And, she'll continue to do those fun things until the day finally comes when she finds her place to call home.

"It would feel good," Emily imagined."If anyone wants to adopt me, go right ahead 'cause I'm up for it. That's all."

Special thanks to Little Rock's Animal Village for allowing Emily such a personal visit. They sent her home with treats and toys for her own dogs.
